I received Gordon Goodwin's XXL album from Amazon today. All I can say is, wow! Wow! Wow! Now this is cool. So I give it three wow's. The tune on the album that was over-the-top, yet way good was "Hunting Wabbits". Now I just found out that that tune, and the album in general is up for three Grammy's. No wonder. Can I pick 'em or what?
I already had his other album "Swingin' for the Fences". It's great. I had heard that this one was "different". Well to me it is and it isn't. You can still tell Gordon's "signature" in his new compositions. But either he got much, much better, or he's had the talent all along and it is taking a few albums to get the stuff out of his head.
Whatever. I can't wait for his next one!
