I'm on a diet. Well its actually a "nutrition program for life". So far it's working -- I've lost 10 lbs over the past two weeks! That and excersize. I got concerned when I hit the 200 lb mark, drinking 5 cans of Dr. Pepper a day, eating hamburgers, and sitting around all the time. Then when I learned that the senate is taking steps to prevent people from suing McDonald's for their getting fat, I decided it was time to take some action. If I can't blame it on Mickey-Dee's then I have to blame myself. That just won't do.
I went to Kronos Optimal Health, where they did blood tests and all kinds of other probably unnecessary tests for definitely unnecessary amounts of money, so I would be scared into living a healthier life. It worked.
So now my major food groups are protein, fat, and carbs, but they have to be the right kinds of protein, fat, and carbs. Like fish, poultry and beans for protein, olive oil, almonds, and fish oil pills for fats, and veggies for carbs (less breads, rice, and potatoes). Yum.
Actually it's not that bad so far. Also I have to excersize with weights and a big rubber ball (slightly larger than the kick-ball we played with in elementary school), do cardio stuff, and stretch. Argh.
Oh well. I want to live long enough for my grandkids to know their bald, nerdy grandpa so I guess this is what it takes. Also I want to avoid having doctors split my chest open to splice blood vessels onto my heart with arteries that were taken from arms and legs. Somehow that doesn't seem like an enjoyable experience.
I'll miss Dr. Pepper, "nectar of the gods". I'll miss baby-back ribs, potato chips, pastrami, and all kinds of other stuff that I love to eat but is now on the no-no list. But I also miss having my pants fit, so it isn't so bad.
