Weeping, Wailing, and Gnashing of Teeth

I just got turned onto podcastingRory started it with me, by getting mad at John C. Dvorak, who published a negative article about podcasting in PC Magazine.  Rory posted a short but colorfully-worded description of what he would like to see happen to Mr. Dvorak.  Something about trains and cabooses.  Since then Rory caught an awful lot of flak.  He ended up removing his post.  It it's any consolation to him, I decided to check podcasting out.  I downloaded iPodder, and got a couple of feeds, then listened while working out at the gym.  It's pretty cool -- I think...

I thought it would make sense to check out the most popular feeds (there is a section called iPodderX Most Popular).  So I downloaded “Evil Genius Chronicles” and “Adam Curry: Daily Source Code”, put them on my HP iPaq (yup, you don't need an iPod), and gave them a listen.

Both of them spent today's (well, yesterday's) time moaning about the presidential election results.  Should I infer that the majority of podcasters are liberal democrats?  It also seems -- from what I have seen (with a few pleasant exceptions) -- that the majority of bloggers are also liberal democrats.  Looks like I'm in the minority.

The “Evil Genius” bloke went on about how depressed he was, about how his house in Atlanta didn't sell for a long time, and now it finally did and it will close soon, and how he took it in the shorts -- having to pay substantial $$$'s because he was upside-down on equity.  Somehow that was Bush's fault.  So if Gore had been elected that wouldn't have happened?  So if Kerry won that would never happen again?  I'm sorry -- it doesn't take a genius (ha ha, I made a funny) to figure out that no president is going to bail him out of that one.  I don't know what the factors were -- maybe he paid too much in the first place.  Maybe his home is in a bad location.  Maybe his selling costs (don't get me started on realtors) were too high.  I can tell you this -- I just sold my home too and was more than satisfied with the results.  Maybe he thinks the right president would make me give him my profits just to be fair.

Adam Curry was bummed too.  All I gleaned from him was that he was in Amsterdam spending the night before a return trip home to the states somewhere, and that he was going to have to settle for four “dark” years and then resume his fight to change the minds of all of us sensible ones.  Tell you what, Adam, Amsterdam isn't such a bad place, is it?

I have downloaded more material for my commute home this evening.  Maybe someone else I listen to will be more worth the time.  I do like the ipodding concept though.
