Some way, way random thoughts...

  • I just bought Donald Fagen's new album “Morph the Cat“.  It's great.  I have been listening to it over and over.  Soon I will be sick of it, but not yet...
  • Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants Israel “wiped from the map“.  Osama bin Laden has accused the United States and Europe of supporting a "Zionist" war on Islam.  A woman heckled Chinese President Hu Jintao on the White House lawn.  North Korea.  Venezuela.  I guess there is no chance of peace anytime soon.  That sucks.
  • The Suns beat the Lakers in the first game of the playoffs.  Woohoo!
  • Gas costs $3.00 per gallon again.  What the heck?
  • My latest hobby -- flying electric model helicopters.  Well, trying.  I do pretty good with my Blade CX.  It's a blast.  The more “realistic“ Blade CP is still giving me problems.  I have to agree with a saying I once heard, that helicopters can't really fly.  What really happens is that the earth repels them.
  • Where are the good movies?  It's been pretty sparse lately.  Not much to see.
  • Survivor.  American Idol.  NCIS.  That's about all I watch at the moment.  In case you wanted to know.  Which you probably didn't.
  • Tonight I played a concert at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.  My minor-blues solo in the middle of Gordon Goodwin's “Hunting Wabbits“ really clicked.  Sometimes I'm hot.  Then again sometimes I suck.  But tonight was great.  I would like to have done “Satin Doll” over -- it was ok, but not as good.  And my solo in Bob Mintzer's “New Mambo“, well, forget it.  Those are some weird changes -- I don't think I'll ever get that one down right.  The rest of the tune was fine though.
  • We are making progress at ArrowStorm -- my new company -- slowly.  My son Nathan is working for me.  It will be a while before we are at break-even.  But I am enjoying it.  I'll post more about this later.
  • How's this for a bunch of totally disconnected ramblings?  Done now.
